Borders

Borders are usually constructed of two layers - a color layer & a back-up film (silver / gold / white / etch / smoke).  Smoke is used as a back-up when the color is gold film.  This gives the gold more contrast.

Border designs are priced the same as graphics & are usually two-layered.  The cost of each color & each back-up film is tallied by the square foot & multiplied by the cost per square foot of each color to get the total cost of a multi-layered border.

Cost for Torres Cigars install:

• 3 (48 in x 85 in) windows = 85 total sq/ft
• Gold Border = approx. 14 inches around each of the 3 windows
• Sizes: 6 x 48 in + 2 x 85 in = 458
• 458 / 12 = 38 sq/ft
• 38 ft around the windows x 14 in = 532
• 532 / 12 = 44 sq/ft of border film
• Gold costs $1.75 per sq/ft x 44 sq/ft = $77
• Smoke film cost = $77
• Total cost of materials for the border = $77 x 2 = $154
• We price the Gold/Smoke border at 5 times the materials cost = $154 x 5 = $770
• Materials for center logo costs $7.50 per sq/ft at 12.5 sq/ft = $180
• Price logo at 5 times the cost of materials = $180 x 5 = $900
• Lettering (red/gold) cost $4.50 per sq/ft at 12 sq/ft = $54
• We price lettering at 5 times cost of materials = $54 x 5 = $270
• Total cost of materials for border, logo, & lettering combined = $154 + $180 + $54 = $388
• Total priced charge for the window graphics for Torres Cigars = $388 x 5 = $1,940 (You decide your multiplier margin.  You could charge less, such as x 3, & still make money.  Figure out the cost of materials, then use the multiplier to get the average retail price for a Solar Graphics window design.)
